The camp site is a permanent one, surrounded by mature trees and is well drained. Car parking is at one end of the field and cars are moved there after we have unloaded and set up. We have limited capacity for live-in vehicles, so please book them in so we can allocate space along the hedge line, otherwise they will need to remain in the car park. Situated around the field are compost toilets, sinks, and water points. Hot showers are available all day.
The Gate team will warmly welcome you from midday on the Friday until Sunday evening, though most people arrive during Saturday. Throughout the camp, the Gate is your first port of call for information and a supportive space if needed. Next to the Gate is the First Aid tent. A First Aider is on call most of the day.
After the retirement of our excellent cafe co-ordinators, we are working on how to provide some kind of cafe facility.
Watch this space for updates as things develop.
We expect to provide a basic shop facility to reduce the need for leaving the site. We encourage circles to work together in reducing our carbon footprint by doing shared shopping trips.
In front of the Cafe and Shop is the area we call the Village Green. It serves as a focal point for many of the activities that take place at the camp, particularly involving children and teens. Various sports and games happen here. This is also where you will find the space for under 5's and their carers. There is a sandpit and a selection of toys. There are also some organised activities to get involved in.
There was no sauna at SAC 2022 but we have a plan.
Watch this space for further developments!
"It is one of the most beautiful settings, surrounded by woods and fields, with our familiar red kites circling overhead." - Emma
